BASIS is a well respected independent education, training and auditing charity operating in the agriculture, horticulture, amenity and pest control industries. With an annual turnover of about £1.5m, the charity examines 3000 candidates studying on one of 51 accredited courses, has over 10,000 members on its professional registers and conducts around 700 store audits each year. The organisation operates from its office in Ashbourne, Derbyshire.
BASIS is looking for a Technical Manager who will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise to the management team to support the current business and help with developing new business. Other responsibilities will include an ambassadorial role with Stakeholders and Members, responsibility for certain BASIS committees, preparation of exam scripts and from time to time, be involved as an Exam Chairman.
Experience, Qualities and Qualifications
The successful candidate will be an experienced crop advisor with well-developed communication and interpersonal skills who will have the ability to engage with a wide range of Members and Stakeholders. With a degree in biological or agronomic sciences, the successful candidate will be a member of the BASIS Professional Register and have sound knowledge of the UK regulatory framework for crop protection, crop nutrition and environmental protection.
