TRIALS TECHNICIAN FOR R & D DEPT– STAMFORD, LINCS​

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Research and Development Department as a full-time Trials Technician.

The role within the department is to be responsible for the practical delivery and development of the independent in-house trials for the business. This will include all areas ranging from the assistance to layout of trials, carrying out ongoing trial observations and monitoring, as well as including in season spray applications. There will be the opportunity to assist the Trials Manager in the generation of independently structured trial protocols to required standards, and an additional role to help interrogate the end of year results. The position is unique in both its overall encompassing of all areas of trials work and the detailed interpretation of these results. 

The information and data that you will be looking after throughout the season will directly help influence the significant land portfolio that Velcourt manages for its clients. With a combination of practical outdoor work and office-based duties, this will be a varied role that will offer the opportunity to develop agronomic and trials skills. It will also offer the opportunity to develop relationships with external trials providers, trials contractors as well as Velcourt Farm Managers.

We are looking for candidates who have worked or studied in agriculture and have a good understanding of the sector. The areas of specific candidate attributes are as follows:

  • Some experience in commercial field trials, with relevant spray test certificates - PA1, PA2, PA4 and PA6 qualified.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • A high level of initiative with strong planning and organisational skills.
  • High standard of numeracy and literacy with good attention to detail.
  • Be able to work closely within a small team, be enthusiastic and flexible with your working hours.
  • Be skilled in Microsoft packages, and have an understanding of statistical analysis and data interpretation.

A full, clean driving licence is a pre-requisite.
