Production Manager

The role is overseeing the manufacturing of premium animal bedding from a farm grown crop within a busy, working farm / agricultural environment. However, you will be part of the larger picture in the business working as part of the wider team.

With the above in mind, this is a very busy and demanding role for a keen and hard-working candidate where your skills and experience can help take this growing business forward.

Essential skills:

  • Busy production line experience
  • Proven staff management experience
  • Experience in working with hydraulic and mechanical machinery
  • Telehandler operator or forklift operator

Desirable skills:

  • Haulage management
  • Engineering background
  • Previous farm experience
  • Tractor driving / handling experience

 About the ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate will have experienced an agricultural production / engineering background and be able to provide evidence and references.

The role includes overseeing all individual processing jobs on a production line within an agricultural processing unit and requires an organised and methodical approach to tasks. You will be required to operate all aspects of the processing machinery, gaining a working knowledge of the production line. Quality control across a variety of products is a vital part of the daily role.

The role represents a growth in the business and is very much aimed at continuing the growth of the product lines. An ability to think creatively, on your feet and be part of a small but supportive team is essential. You will also be relied upon to show your own initiative in the absence of management and will be actively encouraged to offer your own ideas and thoughts, to assist in the daily running and efficiency of all operations. Any relevant training will be available to the right candidate.

The ideal candidate will be capable of taking sole responsibility as well as working as part of a small team, and show ability to clearly instruct other processing staff to carry out their duties.

Unsociable hours may sometimes be necessary.

Job type: full time, average 50 hours per week.

Salary £28k - £34k per annum dependent on experience.

Potential re-location package available for the right candidate.

Position to start as soon as possible.
