Due to retirement after 32 years, we have a rare but exciting opportunity to run a 300 acre dairy farm near Ivybridge in Devon.  Reporting directly to the owner, the manager will be responsible for every aspect of running the farm from milking, herd health, fertility and records to managing the team, budgeting, SFP claims, health and safety, ordering inputs, coordinating contractors and organising cropping so we therefore require an autonomous individual, with management experience, who can think for themselves and deal with situations as they arise. The farm carries a dairy herd of 250 pedigree Jersey cows that calve in two blocks – autumn and spring. Yield being around 5,500 litres from the autumn group and around 4,500 from the spring.  All replacements are reared on farm.  Facilities include; 20:20 fullwood rapid exit parlour, excellent handling facilities and cubicles with some loose housing.   There is an established, highly competent team in place.  Plans are in place to update the unit in 2020/21 with a new parlour and additional cubicles with a view of increasing the herd by 70-80 cows.  This would be for the incoming manager to facilitate.
