BOORTMALT - Barley Procurement Coordinator - Scotland

Boortmalt, a leading global malt producer, have asked Hunter Chase Consultants to help them to find a Barley Procurement Coordinator to join their team in Scotland. This vacancy has arisen because of succession planning and Boortmalt are keen to find a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join their team at the Buckie office. The main focus of the role will be to oversee the sourcing strategy to ensure the supply of high quality malting barley for the malting plants in Scotland. The postholder will be involved in budgeting, and forecasting and will help to develop the procurement strategy. They will liaise closely with the commercial and operational teams at Boortmalt and also with suppliers (Merchants, Grain Co-ops, Brokers). The supply of malting barley is very important in both quality and volume terms to meet the needs of the business and its customers.

This role could be of interest to candidates who are currently working in logistics management, as farm traders, within the raw material supplychain, within farming businesses, or as procurement managers within the food and agriculture sector. There will be some travel required within the UK and Europe.  

Candidate profile:

• Degree calibre – Agriculture or Agribusiness Degree ideal
• At least one to two years’ work experience in Agriculture, Food or Drinks Sector
• Familiarity with malting barley markets and farming - helpful but may not be essential
• Well organised, with the ability to multitask
• Attention to detail
• Excellent communication and team-working skills
• Sound decision making
• Ability to work to tight deadlines

Location: Scotland – Buckie, Moray
