Operations Manager for Ørskovgaard

For our farm Ørskovgaard we are looking for a development-oriented operator who can undertake to manage the farm's activities and employees.

Are you passionate about working with organic chickens? Do you have experience from working with laying hens and rearing chickens on a large scale? Do you have the skills to lead the production on a larger, modern and organic farm with both laying hens, rearing of chickens and their own production of feed?

If you can say yes to the three questions, you might be quite right for the job as an operator at Ørskovgaard in Denmark.

Ørskovgaard is part of Dueholm a family-owned company that is a supplier of organic eggs to COOP and with production in China to the Chinese domestic market

Responsibilities and Tasks

Based at Ørskovgaard you will get full operational responsibility for Ørskovgaard 's poultry production.As an operator, you will be responsible for the production and animal welfare of hens and chickens, as well as for planning of employee working hours and holidays.

We expect you to be able to work independently with reference directly to the management and are prepared to stay here for a number of years. There is a possibility of a presentable official residence as part of the recruitment package and it is considered an advantage to be used.

The specific tasks will include in particular:

  • Focus on animal welfare
  • To operate and optimise the operation of the chicken herd, rearing and feed production
  • Be willing to "get your hands dirty" and take the lead when required
  • Be able to cut short, but have a high focus on motivating employees
  • Ability to attract candidates to the company's functions
  • Recruitment and selection of new employees
  • Focus on continuing low sickness absence
  • Miscellaneous staff administrative conditions
  • Various support functions in relation to management

Qualifications and experience

  • We expect you to have a relevant education from the agricultural school or rural college. However, your practical experience is more important than your formal education
  • It will be an advantage if you come with direct experience from hen herds – However, this is not a requirement. The alternative could be cattle or pigs
  • It is a definite advantage if you master and have personal experience with organic farming for a few years. Your skills must be in order, to be able to carry out the vast majority of activities in person.
  • Solid knowledge is assumed around agro culture in general
  • You need to have the desire and the ability to challenge the executive management and general management, to contribute to increased professionalization and well-being at all levels of the organization
  • You must master English in both written and spoken.
