Head of Health, Safety & Environment

Our Client

As one of the leading vertically integrated fresh food businesses in the UK, our client has operations throughout the country in production, growing and packing serving a number of market sectors including retail, food service and wholesale. Due to the growth of the group, they are now looking for an experienced Head of Health, Safety and Environment Manager to support the business to reach its objectives across its sites. 

The Opportunity

Reporting to the HR Director, the Head of HSE will ensure the necessary controls, administration, training, reporting and auditing are in place as well as promoting and instilling a strong HSE culture across the sites. The role will lead the team to ensure a strong and co-ordinated H&S structure and presence across all locations working very closely with the Board and local business management to ensure standards are maintained and local requirements implemented within these. This role will be required to deliver a clear strategic sustainability plan in conjunction with the operating businesses and the Board; and then work with operating businesses to deliver it effectively and efficiently.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be an experienced H&S professional with a track record in HSE leadership roles in multi-site companies, ideally with some element of vertical integration.  Clearly the candidate will demonstrate a passion for safety & sustainability, relevant qualifications in Health & Safety and significant knowledge and experience of supervising auditing programmes (including ISO or equivalents. Candidates will be proven in implementing and instilling H&S strategy, culture, policies and will be excited about leading a business through that process again. Given the growth of the Group, the role and remit is likely to grow as well.  A full driving licence is required.
