Job Details

We require an enthusiastic, versatile and experienced individual to take an active role in the success of a superb pedigree herd achieving 12,600 litres per cow!

This is a 400 acre farm situated in beautiful countryside, yet being close to the motorway and rail networks. The farm is predominately down to grass, whole crop wheat and maize, and whilst being intensive the owners have a keen interest in conservation and wildlife with a stunning bluebell wood being present on the farm.

The cows are fed a full TMR diet with A.I and foot trimming outsourced so that as much attention to detail can be given to the herd on a daily basis, in order to maintain the superb welfare of the stock.

Key farm facts are as follows;

  • 24:24 Westfalia parlour
  • 360 cows (rising to 400)
  • Replacements reared off site, calves sold at 3-4 weeks.
  • AYR calving with a level milk profile
  • Cows bedding on sand cubicles
  • Genus RMS and regular foot trimmer
  • Farmers plus 4 full time staff and relief
  • 3 times per day milking

We are looking to recruit an individual who will work in a senior role and work closely with the herd manager, but who will also be hands on and a key part of the milking team. The person will need to be experienced but also versatile and have good communication skills with excellent attention to detail. Key responsibilities of the role will be milking, herd health management, record keeping, and management of parlour and yard staff when the herd manager is off.

In return for your efforts we offer a highly competitive salary with bonus schemes, 85 days off including every other weekend, a lovely 3-bedroom house off the farm free from rent and council tax. The house is located in a fantastic community village with shop, post office, doctor’s surgery, primary school, nursery, pub and social/sports clubs.

All applicants are dealt with in the strictest of confidence. To discuss this role, please call Ben Furnival 07551123045 or email your cv/application form to amanda.hargrave@lkl-services.co.uk
