Farm Manager-Multi Unit Operation

Our client, an established but ever expanding farming business based in Shropshire, seeks to appoint a highly professional dairy focused farm manager to oversee their multi unit operations in and around central England. The business, although predominantly dairy based, has arable, turkey and poultry interests as well as a property portfolio and managed woodland. The role has come about due to recent expansion and to enable further growth, development and opportunity for the wider business. The successful candidate, besides having strong input into overall strategy, will undertake the wider management of the multiple units, with individual unit managers reporting to them. You will lead with a can do attitude, guide and direct the dairy units towards increasing levels of efficiency and profitability, liaise with suppliers, buyers and relevant agencies when required and ensure all legislation and compliance measures are being undertaken. You will, as part of the senior management team, formulate budgets and targets and ensure all relevant data, paperwork and administration is up to date. Very much a working manager there will be times when you will be required to undertake practical work, filling in where needed, particularly at peak times and you will be as comfortable on the tractor, stepping into the milking parlour and trouble shooting on farm as you are in the office and around the boardroom table. The successful candidate will have a strong background in dairy management, with other sector experience a major bonus. You will understand commercial pressures on the farming business, seeking to counter these challenges with a proactive, open minded approach. You will lead from the front, inspiring and motivating the staff under you to achieve the highest standards and you will have excellent communication skills both verbal and written, adaptable to every level of person working around you.
