Arable Farm Manager

Our Client

With a reputation as one of the most progressive farming businesses in the country and strong financial resources, our client has developed a diverse farming enterprise growing combinable, energy and root crops including a significant potato operation and livestock unit. Due to continued investment in the region, the business now requires a progressive and innovative Farm Manager to lead a 2,500ha farm as well as to develop and implement an agronomic strategy across 6,000ha in the region.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Regional Director, the Farm Manager will be the operational and H&S lead for the arable rotation (excluding seed potatoes) across 2,500ha managing a very capable team of five with a well invested machinery fleet. The role will oversee and develop the precision farming and crop technology plan as well as lead all agronomic decisions and crop walking in the region. The business and teams are eager to learn and this role will provide knowledge, recommendations and training support so the farms continue to be at the forefront of crop protection and nutrition plans.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be an experienced, innovative Farm Manager who has a proven track record of delivering farm management and agronomy at scale. This new role is about driving change so the candidate will be comfortable challenging traditional methodologies and use sound data analysis to encourage colleagues and suppliers to embrace new agronomic techniques. Candidates will demonstrate the financial acumen to create budgets and the commercial nous to deliver them with a strong team ethic and entrepreneurial spirit to lead the team on a day to day basis as well as add value within the senior management team.
