Head Stock Person

Reporting to the Grazing Enterprise & Farms Manager, this role will not only be crucial to the successful delivery of the Trust’s Wilder vision but also contribute to the welfare and husbandry of the Trust’s livestock.

You will support the delivery of effective and appropriate conservation grazing across the Trust’s estate and on sites within the Trust’s contract grazing service, working closely with and supporting those who have day to day responsibility for the sites themselves.

Under the guidance of the Grazing Enterprise and Farm Manager, directing and  working closely with the junior Grazing Officers, you will be responsible for the delivery of practical estate works, farm infrastructure and maintenance tasks along with all aspects of livestock husbandry.

You will also support the Trust’s ability to fulfil its legal and contractual obligations associated with conservation grazing as well as meeting public safety obligations.

The post will be physically demanding so you will have good practical abilities. It also requires flexible working and an on-call system, often during unsociable hours.

Knowledge of livestock husbandry and conservation grazing systems is essential.
