Farmers Weekly is the UK’s top business and professional magazine, with a fully paid weekly circulation of more than 40,000 subscribers and newstrade buyers. It’s the bible of UK farming, trusted by tens of thousands of British farmers.

Farmers Weekly’s website, FWi.co.uk, is by far the most popular website for UK farmers, with more than 600,000 visitors every month making well over a million visits.

British farming is going through the biggest changes ever to hit the industry, driven by Brexit, changing consumer preferences, the need to farm more sustainably and an avalanche of new developments in science and technology. Never has there been a more exciting time to be writing about UK agriculture – and never has it been more important for farmers to be well informed about what’s happening in their industry.

The editor is responsible for setting the editorial direction and running the 25-strong editorial team. The number one priority is to ensure that Farmers Weekly and FWi continue to deliver great content that farmers love. The editor of Farmers Weekly is also expected to play a role in promoting farming to the wider public and to fight on behalf of Britain’s farmers on the issues that matter most to them.

First and foremost, we’re looking for a first-rate journalist – someone who knows what great content is, and how to run a team to deliver it week-in, week-out, in print and online. But we’re also looking for someone who is passionate about British farming and has the confidence to take a stand on the key issues facing UK farmers today.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • A good understanding of UK agriculture and the key issues facing British farmers
  • First-rate journalism skills
  • Experience of setting editorial strategy and leading an editorial team to deliver it
