We have a new position for an assistant herdsperson on a 300-cow family farm in rural Warwickshire, equal distances of Warwick and Banbury. The autumn block calving herd is milked through a 24/48 Wiakato parlour with ACR’s, auto ID, auto foot bath and there are modern cubicles with auto scrappers in some of the buildings. The herd has a current average of 8700 litres and the milk is sold on a premium contract so attention to detail is vitally important.
The successful applicant will be working alongside the current herdsperson and would be expected to milk at least once a day and every other weekend. You would also be scraping yards, bedding cubicles and all other associated stock tasks. There is potential for career progression so training in AI and foot trimming would be provided for the successful candidate but being an enthusiastic dairy person is essential.
In return we can offer a competitive salary along with a nice 2-bed house free from rent and rates.
