Business Development Manager - Crop Protection

The Company

Fera Science Ltd a national and international centre of excellence for interdisciplinary investigation and problem solving across plant and bee health, crop protection, sustainable agriculture, food and feed quality and chemical safety in the environment. Fera create and deliver integrated, innovative and expert research services and products for their partners in crop protection, chemical and animal health companies, as well as food producers and growers, manufacturers, distributors, retailers and government. They now require an experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth and deliver expansion of Fera’s expert services across plant health divisions.

The Opportunity

The Plant and Environment division has strong, unrealised potential for growth in the commercial market with its broad range of mature, off the shelf services which can readily be transposed into industry with the right value proposition. Reporting to the Head of Growth, the Business Development Manager will focus on taking to market, selling and converting those propositions that the Fera Growth and Science Teams qualify for market launch.  The role will manage the sales process through all aspects from lead generation to the point of contract being signed and work in partnership with scientific and marketing colleagues across the Fera business in driving high value strategic accounts and partnerships.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be an experienced commercial and business development professional with a track record of achievements within the agri-tech or environmental sector. This could include all elements of the crop protection industry as well as the environmental testing sector who work closely with UK agricultural businesses. Please note candidates do not need a qualification in a relevant scientific field, but they do need to have an understanding of the technology with a particular appetite and experience for ‘productizing’ the expert services for re-sell to the market.
