Farm Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic Farm Manager to join The Woodhorn Group Senior Management Team.

Established in 1882, The Woodhorn Group is a family run range of businesses, committed to achieving excellence in all we do.  At the heart of the business is our 1500 acre organic arable and dairy farm that stretches across the Chichester Plain and The South Downs.  The Woodhorn Group also operates three licenced recycling sites enabling significant diversion of green waste from landfill in the South East, sells a range of Earth Cycle composts and soil conditioners, and operates a Business Centre with a range of offices, workshops and storage spaces available for let.

Working closely with The Senior Management Team and reporting to the Managing Director, this role requires an individual with the highest level of professionalism and conduct, together with exceptional strategic focus and experience in budgeting and an understanding of profit & loss accounts in order to take the Farm Enterprise forward.  An ongoing focus on the profitability, sustainability and efficiency of the Farming Operation is key.

You will hold a recognised agricultural qualification and have knowledge of organic farming principles.  You will have experience leading a team of arable and dairy workers, with an innate ability to motivate and inspire others through your own enthusiasm, and an ability to translate the overall Farm Enterprise objectives into individual employee objectives to ensure they are achieved.  You are a resilient yet compassionate people person that is confident in leading a group of talented, experienced people to deliver their best each day.

You will have comprehensive experience in managing all aspects of a Farming Operation, including hands on experience, managing farm machinery and equipment, grain store management, estate management, environmental management, crop planning, reporting and procurement.

You will be highly organised, with sound attention to detail, IT and paperwork skills.  The Health & Safety of yourself and others will always be your first priority, and you will ensure that your team are adequately trained to perform their roles safely and effectively at all times.

As someone with a drive to develop and grow the Farm Enterprise further, you will initiate and manage projects to drive profitability and sustainability and will coordinate annual surveys, audits, and stewardship schemes.

In return, we can offer a competitive package including rent-free accommodation and a vehicle.

Working at The Woodhorn Group also comes with other benefits.  You would be joining a medium sized, family run Company, which prides itself on its employee welfare.  Employee benefits include an enhanced holiday allowance, occupational sick pay scheme, health cash plan, bonus scheme and annual salary reviews.
