On behalf of a successful and rapidly growing biosolutions company we are seeking an enthusiastic R&D biologist, or research scientist, to help establish their in-house bioassay resource. The company develops and sells natural product pesticides and crop protection delivery systems. 

The appointed scientist will primarily work in the lab developing bioassay screens to test natural pesticide formulations against insects, nematodes and fungi.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the development of a new biological testing capacity
  • Helping to design biological test protocols / SOPs
  • Helping to test and validate biological test protocols
  • Analysing internal trials data
  • Present research findings
  • Liaising with CROs to on trials
  • Working with other team members in the biologicals team.
  • Ensure the biologicals lab works to GLP / GEP processes
  • Innovation and evolving ideas

Candidate requirements:


  • Background in research and development work, ideally at least 1-2 years, with relevant BSc or Masters in Biology, Entomology, Plant Science or similar.
  • Experience in handling plant protection products (PPPs), or in microbiology, or entomology or plant pathology preferred
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis methods and relevant software packages
  • Presentation and communication skills
  • Familiar with good experimental design and GLP/GEP
  • Close attention to detail
  • Ability to innovate and develop ideas 
  • Team player

Location: South Oxfordshire

Salary: Competitive salary package, depending on experience
