We require an experienced herdsperson to work on an excellently managed family farm near Gloucester.  The pedigree herd of 180 cows are milked through a 20/40 parlour with a current herd average of 11,000 litres on twice a day with milk being sold on a premium contract.  The cows are housed on sand cubicles and calve all year round with all replacements and beef calves reared on farm.

Ideally we are looking for someone with previous experience of high yielding cows.   However, attention to detail is vitally important.  Currently both AI and foot trimming are contracted out but will be brought back in house for someone with the proven knowledge. The main roles would be milking and herd health with the ability to take on the day-to-day running of these well-bred cows. 

This would be the ideal position for someone with the drive and enthusiasm to help push the herd to the next level.
