Job Details

Interesting new role within a membership organisation in East Anglia. Working within the Crops Team responsibilities will including the procurement of on-farm grain, and also negotiating, liaising and dealing with fertiliser, seed and agrochemical suppliers. The organisation works to high standards and so it is important to offer a high level of service and customer support to the membership. Full training will be given and ongoing professional development will be encouraged.

Main responsibilities: -

  • Assist in the development of robust and competitive relationships with fertiliser and seed suppliers and have a proactive approach when looking at new products, new suppliers and new services.
  • Liaise with colleagues and assist with forward planning
  • Offer truly unbiased advice to farmers and growers on products, new products and developments.
  • Build lasting business relationships with farmers.
  • Take orders and ensure high quality service is always provided.  
  • Maintain accurate records of transactions with suppliers, and also of member orders.
  • Assist other members of the crops team and ensure the smooth running of the department.
  • Report achievements and activity to manager on regular basis.
  • Quality standards are important and so activities must comply with FIAS standards, TASCC standards and company procedures.
  • Deal sensitively with problems and complaints.
  • Attend relevant training courses to improve knowledge and skillset.
  • Promote the activities of the organisation at all times.

Candidate requirements:-

  • Good knowledge of agriculture, farming and arable cropping in UK (although some training can be provided as necessary).
  • Previous work experience in agricultural sales or grain buying or in procurement, helpful but not essential.
  • Degree in Agriculture or related subject – helpful but not essential
  • Strong communications skills, able to communicate well with farmers.
  • Well organised and determined.
  • Able to work alone and also as part of a team.
  • Driving licence

Location: East Anglia office base
