About the role and our team

Join our team as an Agriculture Policy Manager based at our award winning building, Thie Slieau Whallian!

Within this role, you will be responsible for the management of the Agri-Environment Initiatives Scheme and will provide advice, guidance and support to ensure effective operation and delivery of the scheme.

You will represent the Department at meetings with external stakeholders, politicians at Departmental level, producing briefing notes, reports and technical documents that contribute to the Development of the Agricultural Industry.

Part of your role will be to produce briefing notes, reports and technical documents that will contribute to the on-going Development of the Agricultural strategy which is ‘to achieve a reliable, sustainable and self-reliant Manx food chain that profitably produces a diverse range of products and staple foods to feed the Manx nation’.

You’ll develop a close working relationship with the Service Delivery Manager, the Head of Agriculture and the Policy and Schemes Support Officer to ensure that existing and new Agricultural Support Schemes are delivered transparently and effectively in a timely manner.

What can this role offer me?

You will join us at an exciting time - agricultural support on the island is going through a period of change, a new Agri-Environment Scheme with a budget of £2m is being launched in April.

This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a newly developing Agri-Environment Initiatives Scheme, whilst working in a supportive and expert team in an environment where new ideas are encouraged and your skills and expertise are truly acknowledged.

The Isle of Man has been praised for its effective response to the global pandemic. Currently, due to the lack of cases in the community, people on the Island are enjoying a life free of social distancing regulations.

If working flexibly is important to you, you’ll be happy to know we operate a flexi-time system making it easier to reclaim any additional hours worked and to fit your other commitments around your work life.
