Farm Manager

Eden Search & Select are delighted to be partnering with the HRN Group to recruit an experienced and ambitious Farm Manager to manage a 2000 acre mixed arable and livestock farm in Aberdeen.

Our Client

The HRN Group, based across Scotland operates a successful family business consisting of the highly regarded HRN Tractors Ltd, Agritrac Exports, and Harestone Livestock. The farm is made up of both arable and pedigree livestock and has 2000 acres split between arable and grassland. The Harestone Livestock business comprises of commercial and pedigree cattle herds including Charolais, Limousin, and Aberdeen Angus, as well as Scottish Black Face, Texel and Cheviot sheep flocks. Due to continued growth within the group, a farm manager is now needed to manage and develop the farm in line with the group’s growth plans.

The Role

Reporting to the Owner, this new appointment will lead the farm as an autonomous business unit, developing an ambitious but sustainable farming strategy and best in class agronomic practices. Taking P&L ownership, the role will have management responsibility for the practical duties within the day-to-day farming, operations, and managing a small team of 5 people. The successful candidate will also be responsible for leading diversification projects on farm including land acquisition  as well as identifying other areas that will drive growth and profitability.

The Candidate

To be suitable for this role, candidates should either be a farm manager or experienced assistant farm manager within the arable sector but who has demonstrable experience with livestock.  Candidates will be ambitious, displaying excellent team leadership skills and the ability to run the Farm with the financial acumen to create budgets, and the commercial nous to deliver them. BASIS and FACTS is desirable but not essential as candidates will be assessed on their track record working in a similar environment.
