Herdsperson, 450 cows, West Sussex
Huddlestone Farmers Ltd, a friendly, progressive family run business, is keen to recruit a herdsperson to join their team. Alongside a 450 cow dairy they have arable crops, sheep and commercial enterprises. The team have recently won Tesco Dairy Farm of the Year and are continuously striving to improve.
The role available is for a herdsperson (couples both looking for farm work will also be considered) to work in a progressive team of five people that care for 450 cows and followers. Experience would be beneficial but is not an essential requirement. The role is flexible enough for someone just starting their career; or for someone looking to build on current experience and progress their responsibilities. Duties consist of health and welfare tasks, administering medicines, milking and yard work.
The dairy milks 3 times a day and calves all year round. Milking duties on the dairy are split evenly between members of the team and runs via a 5-week rota with eight days off.
The ideal candidate will be committed, hardworking and enjoy being part of a team. Huddleston Farmers actively want to support the development of their teams and will always look to hire people who have the ability and desire to learn and improve. Training, both in-house and external, is available and will be tailored to suit. There will be the opportunity to learn/improve skills such as AI, Foot Trimming, Treatments, and Grass Management.
A house is available for the right candidate. The house is well suited to a family, based locally to the farm and has a large garden. The local schools are excellent and there are numerous local sports clubs in the village.

- Some experience of dairy or livestock farming preferred but not essential
- Able to record keep accurately as recording information as very necessary
Salary: Salary will be very competitive and dependent on skills and expertise
