High Calibre Arable Manager Required for a Leading Estate Farming Business

Based Suffolk

Excellent Package

The Rougham Estate is based in the Suffolk countryside with ancient meadows, green lanes, oak-lined hedgerows, ponds, bluebells, orchids and parklands. It traces its unique history back to Roman times with the Estate now being owned by the Agnew family since 1904 with part of it run on a Charitable Trust basis to preserve its legacy for the future. It is a diverse estate business including a residential property portfolio but with arable farming as the main commercial operation.

Our people are our strength. Collectively we deliver top level results on a farming perspective with our team.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an astute and commercially margin focused Arable Manager to partner with the Estate Manager to take ownership of the arable operation. This comprises 1,100ha’s of winter wheat, rye and barley plus oilseed rape and sugar beet on a range of Suffolk soils. We are early adopters of regenerative and conservation agriculture and wish to further progress this initiative with your assistance. The role will also entail assisting the Estate Manager with other non-farming estate enterprises such as Christmas trees and self-storage rental containers.

To be successful in this role, you will already be an experienced Assistant Farm Manager or looking for the next step up the management ladder to progress your career. You will be a proven people manager of ideally degree calibre with excellent arable farming credentials. It would be beneficial if you have your BASIS and FACTS qualifications or had the desire to gain them with our assistance.

An appropriate remuneration package will be agreed with accommodation provided if required.

To apply for the Arable Manager position with Rougham Estate Farms, please submit your CV with a covering letter to Simon Eddell, The Estate Manager, Rougham Estate Office, Ipswich Road, Rougham, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP30 9LZ indicating what you believe you can bring to the position.

Or email – simon@roughamestate.com

Initial discussions will be held via Zoom followed by shortlisted interviews on the Estate. Closing date for applications is the 30th April 2021
