Formulation Chemist - Biostimulants

An excellent career opportunity to join the UK formulation team of a leading global science-led manufacturer of Biostimulant products, to work on the design of innovative formulations for use in agriculture and crop production to manage plant health.

The Company offers innovative crop care solutions that improve plant vigour, growth and development while supporting sustainable farming, with world-leading crop science research and proprietary extracts derived from Ascophyllum nodosum marine plants. These crop care products offer farmers sustainable solutions for addressing today’s agricultural challenges.

This important role will focus on supporting the design and development of innovative new Biostimulant formulations for agricultural and horticultural use. Working within a fast moving and friendly R&D team, the appointed formulation chemist will help with formulation development including design, feasibility assessment, preparation and testing of prototype formulations.

Candidates for this role should have a range of experience in formulation development ideally spanning at least one of the following:-  biostimulants, biocontrol, fermentation and plant extracts, biofertilisers, biopolymers, or agrochemicals.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:-

  • BSc in Formulation Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or similar science subject
  • Ideally minimum three years of experience within a relevant formulation laboratory or R&D environment.
  • Experience in the formulation design and scale up of Crop Protection Products - advantageous                                                                                                                                                                                        
  • Excellent analytical skills; strong problem solving skills and ability to think logically.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, internally and externally, written and verbal.
  • Good project management skills, well organised.
  • Supervisory / collaborative / team building skills.
  • Awareness of regulations for the safe handling of chemicals e.g. COSHH and the ability to conduct risk assessments.
  • A sound understanding of the principles of GLP - preferred.
  • Computer literacy for the use of Excel and Access databases, plus other MS Office software.
