Working Farm Manager

Due to recent expansion a Working Farm manager is sought for a mixed farming and contracting business near Diss, Norfolk. This is an exciting opportunity for a progressive, hard working and dynamic individual to lead from the front.  

 

The Business:

Based on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, the business comprises 850 acre cropped with combinable crops and beet, a contracting operation, fabrication business and various livestock enterprises. Due to recent investment in a Biogas plant on the farm, the business will be expanding the cropped area to include grass, wholecrop cereals and maize. It will be providing contract harvesting of forage crops and increasing its baling, tankering and organics application operations. 

 

The role:

The successful candidates will manage the production of cereals, beet and forage crops and take day to day control of the contracting operation. The individual would be competent and confident in crop production, operating modern machinery and managing a team. Experience of forage harvesting, baling and umbilical spreading is advantageous. 

 

The Person:

The role would suit someone looking for a more dynamic role, someone with experience working within a busy commercial arable farming or contracting business who can work on their own initiative and enjoys a challenge. 

 

The successful candidates will be: 

  • A skilled machinery operator with good knowledge of tractor guidance systems and machinery maintenance. 
  • IT literate, be competent using Microsoft Word, Excel, Email, Gatekeeper. 
  • Good at planning and organising a team and have good communication skills,  
  • Able to lead from the front and instill high standards of workmanship.
