After more than 8 years in the role our head herdsman is heading for pastures new creating an excellent opportunity to lead the team caring for 500 high input cows in North Devon.  Cows calve all year round and yield 9500 litres on twice daily milking.  Partial mixed ration feeding is practiced with a cake top up in parlour.  Milking is through a 28:28 Westphalia direct to line parlour with automatic identification, and washing with a backflush system also installed.  Milking cows are in sawdust bedded cubicles and are in 4 groups.  Dry cows and youngstock are housed in straw yards and grazed in season.  We are seeking an experienced person to lead milkings and do AI, foot trimming (lame cows only) vet visits, vaccinations etc as well as overseeing and encouraging the team.
