Commodity Trader | Wilmslow

Salary - Competitive

Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding career? Do you have experience in trading, commodities, and futures markets? If so, we want to hear from you.

About Our Client

Our client is proud to be a family-owned and run business and has a fantastic heritage. They manufacture and supply a variety of commodity-based food ingredients into the food manufacturing, food service and food distribution sectors. They are real specialists when it comes to their products and have built the business from the ground up over the past 25+ years. They trade with customers across the UK, Ireland and Europe and have a great reputation for quality products and services. They have become more sophisticated and complex over the years, but their roots are still in commodity trading and they will always be traders at heart. They have grown over the years to be one of the largest and most successful privately-owned businesses in their sector. They offer progression for their people with unlimited earning potential.

About the Role

This role is all about trading in dairy commodity markets. You will utilise your experience in analysing markets to secure profitable supply and demand opportunities. The role will work closely with all areas of the business including the commercial, logistics and finance teams to deliver the best financial performance possible against challenging targets. Externally you will develop and maintain excellent relationships with suppliers, customers, and other external stakeholders. You will have a strong understanding of key business risks such as credit, price, physical etc and how to mitigate their impact on the business.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for this role will have a few years' experience in commodity trading, ideally within the food industry and may have been exposed to futures markets & hedging etc with the remit of reducing risk and increasing commercial performance. You will be educated to degree level, ideally within food science, business, agriculture, finance or relevant topic. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to work with internal teams to deliver results and feel confident in presenting your ideas to stakeholders. You will need to be a quick learner and be willing to get stuck in where required. This is a trading business, so you will need to be comfortable picking up a phone to sell and trade with new and existing customers. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to build lasting relationships with customers. A foreign language and/or experience in a field-to-fork supply chain or agribusiness would be considered an advantage.

Minimum Requirements

Due to the niche nature of this role and business, the successful candidate will need, as a minimum, to have experience in a commodity trading role. You will also need a great attitude, a desire to learn and the ability to form lasting relationships. You will also need to be a strong team player and be able to fit into a close-knit group with a family-feel.
