JOB SCOPE

The farm manager will have a hands-on multi-functional role, working closely with one of the Partners to ensure the effective day to day running of the farm, while playing a vital role in the growth and development of the business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Tractor/telehandler driver
  • Maintenance and repair of farm machinery
  • Pesticide and fertiliser application
  • Seasonal operations experience
  • Harvest management including relief combine work and grain store management
  • Support contracted work to other farms
  • Ability to propose /support further diversification ideas
  • Awareness of security and health & safety issues
  • Supply hay and straw as required to the livery yards
  • Ensure good networking with neighbouring farms and visiting personnel
  • Effective and pro-active communication with livery clients & industrial unit tenants.
  • General upkeep and maintenance of farm fencing and properties

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Individual will preferably have an agriculture related degree or have a minimum of five years appropriate experience
  • PA1, PA2, PA6 and telehandler certificates are desirable but not essential
  • Full clean UK driving license
  • Ideally candidate will have previous experience of arable and grassland cropping and seasonal operations
  • Sound mechanical knowledge, along with welding and property maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of Environmental Stewardship.
  • Basic knowledge of farm legislation and compliance, to include computerised record keeping, knowledge of Gatekeeper an advantage.

  • An interest in business diversification
  • Ability to implement self-generated work plans
  • Effective interpersonal skills
