Job type: Technical Services
Department: Estates Farm Arable (AFASE)

£18,709 to £21,814 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

The University of Nottingham Centre for Dairy Science Innovation (CDSI) and Arable Farm form part of the Agri-Tech National centre for Dairy research. We have an opportunity for a Farm Technician to join the team.

This role is an opportunity for an early career applicant or someone with experience who would like to work in a Dairy farm environment with a difference. You will support the Farm Managers and their teams in all aspects of animal husbandry, including feeding, machinery operations (including operation of telehandlers and driving of farm vehicles and tractors) animal handling and care, and record keeping. The role requires both good stock management and team working skills, and an ability to contribute to the record keeping, animal welfare, and the Health and Safety responsibilities of the CDSI.

The role is based at the Dairy unit, working primarily with adult cattle, with occasional work in an Arable capacity. You should have a minimum of two A-Levels in relevant subjects or have equivalent vocational qualifications with some relevant experience or have considerable experience in a relevant role. Due to the frequency that you will drive vehicles, a full, current driving licence is also essential for this post, unless disability precludes this.

Hours of work are full time, 36.25 per week worked by rota averaging 5 days out of 7, including working regular weekends. It would be expected that you would work regular additional hours as required. Overtime rates are paid for additional hours. This role is available on a permanent basis. Job share arrangements may be considered.

We strive to provide a range of benefits and rewards, including leading fitness and health facilities, staff discounts, and travel schemes. We also offer an excellent holiday allowance of 25 days, plus additional university closure days and bank holidays.
