Assistant Farm Manager (Dairy)
Reference: NHE354321

Job type: Administrative Professional & Managerial

£31,406 to £40,927 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

The University of Nottingham Centre for Dairy Science Innovation (CDSI) is part of the Agri-Tech National centre for Dairy research, and has an opportunity for an Assistant Farm Manager (Dairy) to join the team.

This role is an opportunity for an experienced person with a proven track record of working in dairy farming to high standards and a willingness to take on more responsibility.

You will support the Farm Manager (Dairy) in all aspects of animal husbandry, feeding, milking (via Lely Astronauts) and hygiene. Once settled you will provide rota cover for the Farm Manager (Dairy) and will therefore be the responsible person on site for a considerable number of days per year.

Due to the nature of the role, you will be expected to live in a house provided by the University close to the CDSI, for which the rent is almost entirely subsidised by the farm.

You should be qualified to Degree/HND level or equivalent in Agriculture or a related field, plus have considerable experience or extensive relevant work experience in a similar role. Due to the frequency that you will drive vehicles, a full, current driving licence is also essential for this post, unless disability precludes this.

Hours of work are full time, 36.25 per week, worked by a rota averaging five days out of seven, including working regular weekends. It would be expected that you would work regular additional hours as required. This role is available on a permanent basis. Job share arrangements may be considered.

The University of Nottingham are committed to providing competitive employment packages whilst supporting the well-being of our staff to help them reach their full potential. We strive to provide a range of benefits and rewards, including leading fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes. We also offer an excellent holiday allowance of 30 days, plus additional university closure days and bank holidays.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to David Butler, email dave.butler@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted. Please quote ref.NHE354321.

We welcome applications from the UK, Europe, and from across the globe.

For successful international applicants, we provide financial support for your visa and the immigration health surcharge, plus an interest-free loan to help cover the cost of immigration-related expenses for any dependants accompanying you to the UK.

Closing date: Friday 8 October 2021.
