Great new job opportunity for a Technical Manager, or Technical Officer, to join the Technical Department of a successful and well known plant health company, a market leader across UK and Europe.

An additional Technical Manager is sought, to join the existing small Technical team, to:

  • help to drive and manage new product development;
  • oversee regulatory matters and product stewardship;
  • manage projects;
  • innovate;
  • provide technical support and training internally.

The company already has a top quality portfolio, a wide range of innovative products, and this role will suit an individual with a keen interest in developing new products, new science and new ideas. There will be the opportunity to focus on a particular product group – this could be herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, biologicals, adjuvants or fertilisers – and so develop more specialist technical skills over time. The role will include lots of team work, and liaison with colleagues, and also collaboration with European and Global partners. There will be regular travel to sales meetings, conferences, and trade shows. The technical team work closely with their commercial colleagues and have an important part to play in strategic planning for the future.

Candidate Specification:-

Previous experience in a technical role, or in a technical management role, within Agriculture, Horticulture, Agrochemicals, Fine Chemicals or similar

Candidates who have two or three years’ work experience in commercial R&D, Crop Trials, Regulatory Affairs, or Technical Support, are also encouraged to apply as training can be provided.

  • Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Biology, Plant Science, Environmental Science or similar - preferred
  • Knowledge of the Horticulture and Agricultural Sectors
  • Technical knowledge, and ability to communicate technical information easily
  • Attention to detail and committed to high standards of work
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • IT literate – word, excel
  • Commercial understanding and awareness
  • Willingness to undertake travel in UK and occasionally overseas

Location: Cambridgeshire or Bedfordshire, flexible work arrangements with some homeworking.
