Job Details
Hunter Chase Consultants are working with our client, a leading UK commodity business, to find a talented Trainee Grain Trader, or Junior Grain Trader, to join their busy UK trading team. This a great opportunity for an individual with some commercial exposure and a little bit of trading experience to quickly become an important member of the trading team, helping to ensure optimum commodity volumes and margins are achieved at all times.
This role could also provide the opportunity for a farm grain buyer/farm trader to move into a role with a focus on grain trading, although farm grain buying and origination would also be an important part of this dual role.
Specific responsibilities will include:-
- Trading grains to domestic and overseas end users
- Buying grain from farmers and servicing origination ledger and key suppliers
- Supporting other members of the Trading Team in trading activities and procurement
- Developing good trading relationships with key consumers and key famer suppliers
- Keeping abreast of market information/trends for all commodities and to assist in communicating this information as required
- To provide accurate management information
- Assisting with the development of other trading opportunities
- To undertake other duties and projects as required
Candidate Requirements:-
- Keen interest in commodity and grain markets.
- Ideally 1-2 years commodity sector or procurement or grain trading experience (farm grain buying experience would also be relevant) but recent graduates will also be considered.
- Strong commercial awareness – previous commercial work experience helpful.
- Knowledge of the agricultural sector including grain, pulses and oilseeds.
- Confident self-starter with the determination to succeed.
- Excellent communication, analysis and numeracy skills.
- Degree or HND in Agriculture, Business or other relevant subject – preferred
- Clean driving licence
- Full training will be provided
