Job Details
We are recruiting for a Pig Farm Manager in Co. Cavan, Southern Ireland.
The multi-site pig breeding and finishing business produce approximately 180,000 pigs per year on its farms for its own meat processing business.
The farms consist of six breeding farms and sixteen finishing farms. The business continues to invest in its farms and is constantly looking to improve its operations.
The new Farm Manager will be responsible for a 750-sow breeding farm producing 45 Kg weaners for transfer to one of the five contract finishing farms. All animals are indoors in modern buildings and are fed using a Big Dutchman computerised feed system.
Responsibilities:
- Managing all production aspects of the pig farm
- Working with the existing farm staff and implementing a strong training programme for existing and new farm staff
- Evaluating the physical performance against best practice and ensuring standards are progressed to achieve best practice
- Making recommendations to improve the performance and health of pigs
- Ensuring all production records are maintained
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements such as DAFM and EPA
- Implementing a standardised work routine and pig flow rotation across all aspects of the farm
Candidates should preferably have experience with Big Dutchman feed computers and Skov ventilation, but training can be given.
Salary range: from €40,000 per annum.
