Job Title: Assistant Grazing Officer
Full Time – 40 hours per week

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust is a grassroots movement working for nature’s recovery and to bring people closer to nature.
We are seeking an Assistant Grazing Officer to join our cause.
This permanent role involves:
- Assisting with the day-to-day delivery of the Trusts conservation grazing operation and contract grazing service. This involves the positive husbandry and welfare of livestock on Trust sites, in-transit and on Trust farm holdings, including bTB testing, helping to implement herd health and breeding plans, provision of appropriate emergency cover outside normal working hours.
- Undertaking estate and basic building maintenance tasks on Trust farm holdings as directed by the Grazing Officer and Senior Estates Manger, maintain farm and livestock machinery and vehicles in good state of repair and cleanliness to meet legal requirements.

Experience
- Experience of livestock husbandry and handling, including recognition and treatment of common ailments
- Estate maintenance and practical skills
- Off road 4x4 driving experience
Knowledge
- Knowledge of livestock husbandry requirements
- Knowledge of current legal and technical issues relating to livestock management, animal welfare and grazing best practice
- A genuine interest in wildlife and/or nature conservation
Skills
- A recognised qualification in agriculture, livestock husbandry or equivalent or relevant experience
- Proven livestock husbandry and management skills, particularly cattle and sheep
- Full, clean driving licence
