EnTrade Operations Manager

Our EnTrade business is growing and has an exciting new role as an Operations Manager.

EnTrade is a Wessex Water business which is creating and operating high-integrity online markets for nature that deliver cleaner water, increased biodiversity, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and natural flood management.

EnTrade’s work to develop catchment markets around the West of England is a world-leading response to the challenge of generating private investment in nature. The markets are making it easier for farmers and land managers to earn money from nature-based projects on their land, enabling organisations to meet their environmental commitments in a timely and cost-effective way, while also making a meaningful contribution to local nature recovery goals.

The Operations Manager will coordinate and enable the implementation of the market infrastructure, rules, processes, and contracts operated by EnTrade to facilitate fair, transparent and efficient trading in environmental services.

The role

As Operations Manager you will be a key member of the EnTrade Operations team, responsible for running each Market Round, upholding the Catchment Market Rules and operating the market to auditable standards.

You will work closely with EnTrade’s Head of Operations, Catchment Market project teams and partners, as well as coordinating and improving the design, operation and regulation of EnTrade markets. You will be working with NGOs, regulators, Local Planning Authorities and other Wessex Water teams and businesses.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • issuing contracts and payments to credit buyers and project suppliers
  • developing and maintaining the EnTrade platform
  • developing and maintaining market registries to auditable standards
  • overseeing credit issue and management, according to Market Rules
  • working with regulators and market design experts
  • developing operational processes and streamlining delivery
  • developing and documenting market operating processes
  • project and task management
  • knowledge management and training for colleagues
  • supporting the Head of Operations.

What do I need?

To be considered for this opportunity, we are looking for candidates who have a strong commitment to and enthusiasm for the vision, mission and values of EnTrade and the role of the private sector in contributing to nature recovery. Candidates should have experience generating business growth through developing and maintaining efficient business systems and processes.

It is essential you have:

  • experience designing and testing flexible IT systems and products
  • excellent project management skills with the ability to adapt these according to the needs of individual projects
  • experience in contract management and managing relationships with clients and subcontractors
  • experience in budget management
  • experience managing operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity while maintaining customer service excellence
  • good organisational skills and the ability to work at pace with a track record of meeting deadlines
  • the ability to work independently using your own initiative and judgement, as well as part of an effective team.
  • computer literacy and the ability to use Microsoft Office with knowledge and experience using GIS and other remote technology.

Interviews will be taking place on the 21 or 26 July 2022. The interviews will consist of competency-based questions and a chance for the hiring manager to discuss the role in greater detail. The interviews will be face to face in Claverton, Bath.
