Pig Stockperson in North Yorkshire

We are recruiting for a Pig Stockperson for a farm in North Yorkshire (DL6).

The chosen candidate will support the farm manager in all aspects of the day-to-day running of the pig rearing enterprise, which operates on an 8-12 week batch system and with the arable farming enterprise.

Job Description:

• All pig rearing routines, including feeding, bedding, moving and handling the livestock and maintaining the livestock buildings
• Administer vaccines and associated pharmaceutical products to pigs when required (training will be provided)
• Ensuring the highest welfare and quality assurance standards at all times
• Operating farm machinery and vehicles (tractors, telehandlers, skid steer, 4x4 etc.)
• Assisting the Farm Manager and third-party contractors with gathering straw and management of grain stores (turning straw, collecting/leading bales, loading grain wagons etc)
• General estate repairs and maintenance
• Health & safety compliance, ensuring welfare at all times

Candidates should demonstrate a proactive approach and willingness to go the extra mile and have knowledge or experience in areas of pig handling, previous work as a stockperson is desirable but not essential.

Salary guide: £24,000 - £26,000 doe
