Our client, a well respected global poultry advisory company, is seeking a project manager for an exciting new layer farm development in Liberia, West Africa. The first stage of ground clearance will commence in early November with a view of completion within 12 months. The project is well funded, carefully designed and will be utilising equipment and infrastructure from Big Dutchman and other European suppliers, being built to the highest global standards. The aim is to build a unit supporting in excess of 250,000 commercial layers in four production houses plus one rearing house producing eggs for local and export markets. Your role for the approximate 9-12 month contract as project manager would be to oversee the build from initial ground clearance and ground works to the first birds being placed. You will be the lead point on the build, managing construction contractors, equipment suppliers and fitters, local staff and liaising the project developers, owners and local authorities. You will be entrusted to bring all parties together and keep the project on track and work with all involved to keep it on budget and delivered on time. This exciting project requires an exceptional candidate with experience in similar projects, within similar environments, some experience of civil engineering, poultry equipment and layer house infrastructure is essential. Good communication skills are key, as is the ability to work in a developing country where the delivery of projects can be challenging. Aside from the obvious skills needed to undertake the role you will have experience of living and working in a country not of your origin, understand and be sensitive to cultural differences but get the job done. The role comes with great responsibility but also great reward and in return for your efforts there is a highly competitive remuneration package, with the usual ex patriot benefits including flights within an agreed rota of time off, accommodation and living support and of course you will receive excellent support from the wider team. If you are seeking an unusual challenge, the opportunity to be a key player in bringing a modern unit to a developing part of the world and have a driven but flexible approach, this is the project you have been looking for.
