Our client, a well respected global poultry advisory company, is seeking a General Manager, one of a number of senior roles, for an exciting new layer farm development in Liberia, West Africa. Building will commence with ground clearance in early November 2023 with a view of completion within 12 months however the owners and board wish to appoint the GM in the early stages and to be in place by the latter part of project build, enabling them to get familiar with the final fitting out of the site, being an instrumental player in getting the site ready for production and establishing business links with local and exports markets. The project is well funded, carefully designed and will be utilising equipment and infrastructure from Big Dutchman and other European suppliers, being built to the highest global standards and will comprise initially of four production houses and a rearing house supporting in excess of 250,000 layers with scope for further expansion and development. As General Manager you will be the key point, in overall responsibility for the production site, sales and distribution, you will establish a network of local customers and potentially export clients with which to supply the eggs produced. You will have responsibility for production levels, budgets, sales and overall management of the business and will work alongside the owners, the board of directors and consultants to deliver a profitable, sustainable business to the highest global standards. You will lead the management team under you, liaise with local authorities when needed and the local community ensuring good links and relationships are developed and maintained. Experience in a similar role, in a similar environment and culture is essential and alongside the obvious business and management skills in this sector, the ability to live and work in the developing world and away from your home country, knowing and dealing with the challenges this can bring, is a must. This initial three year contract is an exciting but challenging opportunity and with great challenge brings great reward.
