Our client, a well respected global poultry advisory company, is seeking a Farm Manager, one of a number of senior roles, for an exciting new 250,000 bird layer farm development in Liberia, West Africa. Building will commence with ground clearance in early November 2023 with a view of completion within 12 months however the owners and board wish to appoint the farm manager in the early stages and to be in place by the latter part of project build, enabling them to get familiar with the final fitting out of the site, being an instrumental player in getting the site ready for birds being placed and ready for egg production. The site will comprise of four production houses and one rearing house with sheds and infrastructure coming from European suppliers, predominantly Big Dutchman. Reporting to the General Manager, liaising with them on monthly and annual targets, you will be responsible for the day to day management of the farm, production levels, flock health and welfare, feed inputs and infrastructure maintenance as well as bio security, waste disposal and hygiene. You will also be responsible for staff management, being the on farm lead for a multinational team as well as local staff who, in the first instance, will report to you and the ability to effectively communicate with different cultures and nationalities, being understanding of their needs but with a firm yet flexible approach is key. Experience in a similar role, in a similar environment and culture is essential and alongside the obvious farm management skills in this sector, the ability to live and work in the developing world and away from your home country, knowing and dealing with the challenges this can bring, is a must. This initial three year contract is an exciting but challenging opportunity and with great challenge brings great reward. A highly competitive ex patriot remuneration package is on offer including salary, ex pat rota with flights, accommodation and the chance to lead a flagship egg production business in a country with huge opportunity and with back up and support from highly experienced consultants and board members. If you have ambition, drive and resilience, with a firm but flexible approach and want to make your mark in a developing country, this could be the challenge you are looking for.
