Due to expansion, we require an experienced calf rearer to join the team on an expanding herd near Shap, Cumbria. The farm has developed over the last few years with major infrastructure facilities being built including new dairy unit with rotary parlour, cow accommodation and feed storage. The next phase is the development of the calf and youngstock facilities as the business expands and reaches its target herd size of 1000 cows in milk. The farm has an excellent staff retention record with its multi-national team and the owners are progressive, forward thinking and are people minded, knowing that the team working alongside them are crucial to their business. The role would entail all aspects of calf and youngstock work, from colostrum administration, milk feeding, general husbandry tasks, health checks and monitoring as well as associated record keeping. On occasion you will be required to undertake some milkings and general cow husbandry tasks. 
The successful candidate will have experience in a similar role, a dedicated and professional approach to their work, putting the needs of the animals in their care first, recognising that the management of the calf impacts on her lifetime production.
