Head Tractor Operator

The Business

Omachie Farm is a 400ha arable farm located in South Angus which specialises in barley, wheat and rye. We also grow 13ha of soft fruit and run a pig multiplying system producing over 20,000 pigs per year. Omachie Farm has diversified into green energy and now runs a 250kw anaerobic digester plant. We aim to diversify further with green energy in the near future. The family run business is constantly growing from strength to strength. Being part of A.G.M Forbes Ltd means that we are committed to sow peas and beans alongside East Coast Viners for the whole of the sowing season.

The Role

You will be working fulltime as part of a team as a head tractor man in the arable side of the business, however you will work closely with other sectors of the farm. The basic components of the job are fixed, however there will be opportunities to adapt and develop the role based on the skills and experience of the person who fills it. The candidate must be able to think laterally and work efficiently as part of a team and on their own. We would be looking for the correct candidate to start work early 2024.

Key Jobs:

· Digestate spreading/haulage 

· Sowing (GPS) for East Coast Viners + home sowing 

· Winter ploughing

· Combine operating

· Carting grain

· Cultivation methods

· Rolling

· Relief spraying

· Maintenance of machinery

Key Attributes:

· Fluent in English with strong communication skills

· Full UK driving licence

· Experience in operating GPS technology 

· Adequate experience in general farm work

· PA1 and PA2 are desired but not essential
