Pig Stockperson

We are recruiting for a Pig Stockperson for a farm in Somerset TA4.

The producer seeks to employ a competent and enthusiastic individual with the right mindset to join the team. Pig experience is not essential as full training can be given.

The farm has 320 sows on a 3-week batch system. The dry sows are housed inside, and they farrow outdoors on concrete railway sleepers, making the winter much more bearable. Growers are housed outside, and the finishers are housed inside on a scrape-through straw system.

In addition, they grow all the cereals on-farm and operate a mill and mix system to feed all the pigs, poultry and beef cattle.

Daily jobs include:

• Feeding
• Bedding
• Carting food
• Moving pigs
• Assisting to serve

   

Salary guide: From £11 + DOE
