Farm Foreman - Full Time Permanent Position

We are a well-established family run farm growing over 3000 acres of Brassicas, potatoes, parsnips and cereals in the Lothians to supply directly to a range of customers.

We are well equipped with the latest technology, modern machinery, and storage facilities.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced foreman to work along side the MD in managing the existing team.  This very important role requires a high calibre individual with a hands-on approach to farming and practical farm experience.          

Skills needed for the role.

• Practical Farm Experience (ie mechanical planting and harvesting, irrigation, storage and cultivation)
• Knowledge of the fresh produce, brassicas and potato industry
• Experience of working in and leading a team
• Good people management skills
• Good communication / interpersonal skills
• Full Driving Licence
• To be flexible with working hours/ patterns (particularly during busy period) and have ability to work to tight timescales.

Day to Day work will include.

• Forward planning workload and delegating daily tasks to team members at morning meeting.
• Supervising, mentoring and motivating the farm team to successfully meet the requirements of the business.
• First point of contact for farm team with queries and problem solving
• Implementing and controlling farm procedures, always ensuring consistency and quality
• Daily maintenance tasks, in quieter months
