Job Details
We are recruiting a Pig Technical Science Officer for an agricultural University in Shropshire (TF10).
The full-time job will contribute to high standards of care for the pig unit, including hygiene, fertility, production, nutrition, and general animal husbandry.
The university is looking for motivated team members willing to develop new skills. Previous experience of working with livestock and operating farm machinery is a requirement for the role, though training will be provided.
The successful candidate will have:
- An ability to work effectively individually and as part of a team
- An ability to take responsibility for allocated tasks and make sound decisions
- An ability to learn new skills and motivation to work in a role that involves working with animals commitment to ensure the highest standards of livestock health and welfare
- Attention to detail and accurate record keeping exceptionally high standards of housekeeping and hygiene
Salary: £27,181 to £29,605 per annum (Depending on relevant qualifications and experience)

Hours:
The routine working week is 37 hours over Monday to Sunday, inclusive.
There may be a requirement for overtime working from time to time, and time off in lieu may be allowed for agreed hours worked more than 37 hours per week.
A rota for out-of-hours work for the livestock sector Technicians is required to cover animal feeding, welfare checks and milking. This will be paid at either time of in lieu or time plus one half.
Please note that accommodation is not available for this role, so local candidates must be able to commute to the university campus at TF10.
