We have an interesting new contract vacancy for an experienced, enthusiastic, and dedicated herdsperson to take on the running of a new unit in mid Devon.

A brand new 54-point Waikato rotary parlour is under construction at the unit and is expected to be operational by summer 2024.  When up to numbers, there will be a flying herd of around 350-cows calving all year round and they will be extensively grazed through the season with easy feed silage and cubicle housing during the winter.  

The position offers a great deal of autonomy as this is a satellite unit to the owner’s other unit, so we require someone who will treat the cows as their own and be capable of making good decisions while communicating effectively and regularly with the owners.  You will be responsible for all aspects of running the unit on a daily basis including milking, feeding, calving, calf rearing, grassland management, herd health, breeding and all record keeping.
