An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to take on the management of a forward thinking, dynamic organic dairy farm situated in the heart of the Cotswolds.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Dairy Farm Manager to oversee the running of a 200+ cow organic, pasture-fed dairy unit across 600 acres split between spring and autumn block calving.The farm has an independent artisan farm-house cheesemaker co- located on-site.
The role offers an opportunity to manage a regenerative farming system in charge of a young and dynamic team as well as playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of the farm. .The role comes with a standalone 3-bedroom recently renovated cottage.
The Manager will need to demonstrate excellence in all aspects of profitable dairy farm/ business management, including forage and grassland management alongside competent stockmanship.
THE ROLE
- Reporting directly to the Farm Owner
- Day to day management of the dairy herd, dairy followers and staff
- Management of forage stocks and grassland management.
- Machinery and parlour work
- Maintaining high levels of animal health and welfare.
- Maintaining documentation etc for farm assurance schemes
THE CANDIDATE
- Good communication skills
- Technically competent
- Competent IT capability
- Proficient manager of staff
- Grassland management experience
- Environmentally aware
- Experience of dairy management
- Livestock husbandry skills (AI, foot trimming)
The salary will reflect experience. Training can be given to a suitable candidate.
