Head Herdsperson

We require an experienced herdsperson who has a good level of experience and is looking for an opportunity that provides a degree of management with the benefit of an operations director who can offer support and advise where required. A change of farm structure brings about this new role!

You will be responsible for the day to day management of the cows including herd health, fertility and mobility. You will need to head up the 6 strong team plus relief staff.

The herd consists of 480 Jersey cows, housed indoors 365 days producing circa 8000 liters, milked through a 32 point rotary parlour. Calves are reared onsite until weaning and then sent to a separate holding, returning as in calf heifers. AI is carried out by Genus with regular foot trimming done by an external contractor. Milk is sold to Arla.

This is a family farm, but is part of a large scale farming organisation which focus heavily on staff training and development.

This opportunity benefits from an excellent 4 bedroom house with a village school being circa a mile away, excellent salary and career development opportunities.
