Herd Manager

Kemble Farms is part of the Bathurst Estate near Cirencester and has a modern dairy unit with 320 cows. We are seeking a Herd manager to join the team working closely with the farms manager. The dairy is one of several enterprises on the large mixed farming estate, as such you will be part of a wider team and benefit from the support this offers.

There is a 4-person team, the cows are milked 2x day through a 36/36 rapid exit parlour keeping milking times to a minimum. This enables you to be actively involved in cow management including foot trimming and AI. The dairy is modern with excellent handling, milking facilities and cattle accommodation. A continual investment plan is in place with exciting ideas for the future.

The successful candidate will be passionate about dairy cows and ensure the highest standards of animal welfare are maintained. You will work collaboratively as part of the team to push continuous improvements in cow production, health and welfare. You should have a positive attitude and be committed to maintaining the highest standards set at Kemble Farms dairy. Ideally you will have experience of herd health management, IT recording systems, foot trimming and AI. We welcome applications from people looking to further their career.

The role offers a great amount of autonomy and responsibility. For this level of responsibility, we offer a detached 4 bed house within walking distance of the unit and a package to attract the best.  Regular time off is offered with every other weekend off, plus a day per fortnight.

If you feel you have the above skills, we would like to hear from you.
