We have a contract vacancy for an experienced assistant Herd manager, to assist day to day management on a family managed dairy farm near Gillingham Dorset, milking 700 pedigree Holstein cows yielding around 10,000 ltrs on 2x milkings.

The farm runs 3 units milking around 2,000 cows. This well invested farm has a modern well equipped Fullwood Herring bone parlour with ACR’s, and excellent handling facilities. Cows when housed are in modern sand bedded cubicles and fed a TMR through-out the winter and to supplement summer grazing.

This position is looking for somebody who can take full responsibility in the herd-managers absence while working in the team.

RMS is utilised to manage the breeding and fertility.

A contract foot trimmer is engaged to do all the foot trimming.
