Senior Pig Stockperson

We are recruiting a Senior Pig Stockperson for a farm in North Yorkshire DL6.

The successful, multi-site pig farming enterprise is based predominantly in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, where breeding and rearing pigs are done according to Red Tractor standards.

The farm is a key nursery-to-finisher unit within a pig breeding operation, supplying pigs from nursery to finishing. This is a great opportunity for the right individual to join a fast-paced, ever-growing business with a bright future.

Job Duties:

• Working on an indoor, 5,000-place nursery and a 7,000-place finishing unit alongside a 1,000-breeding sow unit.
• Assisting with the breeding unit as required.
• Daily duties include feeding, vaccinating, moving, and handling.
• Loading and unloading pigs as needed.
• Completing and maintaining pig data and records in a timely manner.
• Maintaining the condition and appearance of the farm to high standards.
• Operating farm machinery/equipment.

Person specifications:

• Experience running a large nursery finishing unit is preferred
• Wet feed system experience is preferred
• A keen interest in the pig industry and animal welfare is advantageous.
• Farrowing house experience is desirable.
• The ability to prioritise and complete tasks fully with strong attention to detail is a must.
• You must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and a desire to exceed expectations.
• Due to the rural location, your own transport is necessary.

Salary: £35,000 - £38,000 doe
