Grade: Band 6
Salary: £41, 834 based on 37 hours (when including RHA allowance of 20% this increases to £48,113). Subsidised onsite accommodation is available.

Summary of Role
HMP/YOI East Sutton Park is one of only two women’s open prisons in England and Wales. The 84-acre farm and respective land-based activities comprise of mixed livestock including pigs, cattle, sheep and a butchery department with farm shop & market garden. We need a flexible, motivated, and committed individual to lead our hardworking and award-winning Farms & Gardens Team.
We are looking for a capable Farm Manager who has strong expertise in agriculture and horticulture. You will be supervising a team of four instructors and will be responsible for not only the management of the farm and gardens but also the training and assessing of prisoners in vocational qualifications and their development in employability skills which are invaluable for their rehabilitation into the community.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience in a management role, you will be responsible in overseeing that there are good animal husbandry procedures in place and animal welfare regulations are being met. You will also review land-based policies, monitor the expenditure and income of the farm, maintaining regular maintenance of the machinery and advise the senior leadership team on land based related issues. He/she will line manage the staff within this area and contribute to the delivery of the prisons business plans and objectives.
You will be expected to have relevant Agriculture or Horticulture qualifications to at least a level 4. It is a requirement of the job to have the Occupational Safety and Health Certificate (IOSH) or at least be willing to work towards this qualification in your first two years of service.
